We are here for you and all of your inboard and outboard motor service and repair needs! Supreme Marine and Export Inc. Inboard motors will typically last longer without needing repairs, but the repairs are more difficult to conduct and saltwater will accelerate the need for repairs. This is typically easier to do for outboard motors. Saltwater is highly corrosive, meaning that the motor will need to be flushed after each use with freshwater. When it comes to choosing a motor type for saltwater, the difficulties that you will encounter are similar for the two motors, but these issues are typically easier to deal with on outboard motors. How Does Saltwater Affect the Different Types of Motors? The initial price tag and ongoing maintenance for an inboard motor is typically much higher than it is for outboards and, if something breaks, the boat will need to be docked until it is fixed, whereas an outboard motor can simply be replaced. Since inboard motors are built into the structure of the boat, which means that they are more difficult to work on and clean when necessary. These benefits mean that boats with inboard motors are better for entertaining and sport. Inboard motors are integrated into the boat’s infrastructure and the motor itself is typically positioned below deck or under a box, meaning that they are less intrusive, quieter, more fuel efficient, and capable of putting out more horsepower and torque than outboard motors. They also are not always as simple to drive as inboard motors and they tend to create more wake. Outboard motors can also easily be raised and lowered which makes them more capable of traversing shallow waters.īecause outboard motors are detachable, they tend to be a bit bulky and can often get in the way. Outboards are reasonably inexpensive, and you can frequently find them second-hand. Upgrading the engine to gain some horsepower is extremely easy, meaning that your boat will always be customizable. They are easy to access, mount, and remove, making maintenance and cleaning extremely simple. Outboard motors are a great default choice for most boats. The motor that you should use will depend on the type and purpose of the boat being used and personal priorities. ![]() There are a variety of reasons to go with both outboard and inboard motors, and neither type of motor is inherently better than the other. The Benefits of Outboard vs Inboard Motors ![]() At Bridgeview Marine, we supply all kinds of boats and motors for sale, and we can help you to come to a decision on what kind of boating setup is best for you. When choosing a boat to use in coastal waters, one of the biggest questions that needs to be answered before a purchase can be made is whether it is better to go with outboard motors or inboard motors for saltwater boats.

Performing certain tasks or milestones in a scenario unlocks these unique weapons for future scenarios, though you still have to purchase them. However due to the supernatural, “Weird West” setting you see increasingly outlandish and crazy weapon designs, like shotguns with a dozen barrels or a single-shot Bonehand Rifle that pretty much kills anything in one hit. Guns come in the familiar Western sizes of rifles, pistols, and shotguns. It’s so fun I wish it was just a standard ability on everyone, rather than a single equippable skill. The Ricohet skill is by far the most useful – able to paint a deadly path of bullets around corners to hit foes deep in cover. Flanking becomes absolutely critical, though is sadly one of the few tactical options you ever have. Partial and full cover exists, and is even more important than XCOM as cover actually reduces the amount of damage you take. Each character has two action points you can use with a combination of moving, shooting, and activating abilities. The level designs are big and filled with large two story houses and forts you can fortify or infiltrate. Each scenario has 3-5 combat encounters, sometimes even back to back. And thanks to the Luck resource, I rarely had a chance to ever use any skills anyway. You can mix and match them on any character, but this has the disadvantage of making nearly every character completely interchangeable and forgettable. Skills are tied to equippable poker cards, which is an appropriately thematic touch. ![]() There’s a real lack of progression in the game. No matter how you performed in each of the 3-4 hour scenarios, you’re stripped of everything and begin anew in the next one. In one you have to feed and maintain your crew in another you manage your character’s limited premonitions to grant you advantages. Each one also has its own unique gameplay hook, with varying degrees of success. Sometimes you might even gain or lose party members. But I quickly realized it’s a way to maintain the balance of the game.Įach scenario has its own overland map filled with events and choices that grant you various advantages or injuries. The way these scenarios can intertwine the characters can be really cool. At one point you even kill the protagonist of the previous scenario, which is a neat twist. Each subsequent scenario in that campaign spins off the previous one, with a new protagonist and posse. Warren’s story, for example is told in only half of his actual campaign. However, even these campaigns star different characters and stories. The game is divided into eight individual scenarios: two campaigns, plus an additional prologue scenario. And here we come to the crux of my issues with Hard West. ![]() Now I said “mostly tells” because that story represents only a fraction of the total campaign. Also an ill-conceived quest to bring back his dead girlfriend. He’s given a second chance with a not-so-subtle Deal with the Devil, and begins his quest for vengeance. Warren loses his parents, then his girlfriend, then his life (life was rough back then, man). Hard West mostly tells a classic Western story of revenge. The end result is something of a mixed bag, mostly due to its shoestring indie budget and odd campaign structure. Hard West had all the right ingredients that got me excited about its Kickstarter campaign: tactical XCOM combat, Western setting, supernatural elements, choice-driven gameplay. A minority of conservatives could stray from the Republicans party line, but it remains to be seen whether they’re willing to bring down Macron’s government. Getting a no-confidence motion to pass will be challenging - none have succeeded since 1962, and Macron’s centrist alliance still has the most seats in the National Assembly. Macron’s conservative allies in the Senate passed the bill, but frantic counts of lower-house lawmakers Thursday showed a slight risk it would fall short of a majority, so Macron decided to invoke the constitution’s Article 49-3 to bypass a vote. France, like many richer nations, faces lower birth rates and longer life expectancy. Macron has made the proposed pension changes the key priority of his second term, arguing that reform is needed to make the French economy more competitive and to keep the pension system from diving into deficit. He said overwhelming the streets with discontent and refusing to continue working is “the only way that we will get them to back down.” “We are not going to stop,” CGT union representative Régis Vieceli told The Associated Press on Friday. Trade unions organizing the opposition urged demonstrators to remain peaceful during more strikes and marches in the days ahead. Some yellow vest activists, who mounted formidable protests against Macron’s economic policies during his first term, joined the rallies and called for a march on the parliament Friday evening. Mirrors are also used in optical and scientific apparatus such as telescopes, lasers, cameras, periscopes, and industrial machinery.Īccording to superstitions breaking a mirror is said to bring seven years of bad luck. Mirrors are also used to view other items that are not directly visible because of obstructions examples include rear-view mirrors in vehicles, security mirrors in or around buildings, and dentist's mirrors. This use, which dates from prehistory, overlaps with uses in decoration and architecture. A plane mirror yields a real-looking undistorted image, while a curved mirror may distort, magnify, or reduce the image in various ways, while keeping the lines, contrast, sharpness, colors, and other image properties intact.Ī mirror is commonly used for inspecting oneself, such as during personal grooming hence the old-fashioned name "looking glass". When the surface is not flat, a mirror may behave like a reflecting lens. This effect gives the illusion that those objects are behind the mirror, or (sometimes) in front of it. When looking at a mirror, one will see a mirror image or reflected image of objects in the environment, formed by light emitted or scattered by them and reflected by the mirror towards one's eyes. Thus, a mirror can be any surface in which the texture or roughness of the surface is smaller (smoother) than the wavelength of the waves. This property, called specular reflection, distinguishes a mirror from objects that diffuse light, breaking up the wave and scattering it in many directions (such as flat-white paint). These rays are reflected at an equal yet opposite angle from which they strike the mirror (incident light). ![]() The light can also be pictured as rays (imaginary lines radiating from the light source, that are always perpendicular to the waves). This allows the waves to form an image when they are focused through a lens, just as if the waves had originated from the direction of the mirror. Light consists of waves, and when light waves reflect from the flat surface of a mirror, those waves retain the same degree of curvature and vergence, in an equal yet opposite direction, as the original waves. In modern mirrors, metals like silver or aluminium are often used due to their high reflectivity, applied as a thin coating on glass because of its naturally smooth and very hard surface.Ī mirror is a wave reflector. Natural mirrors have existed since prehistoric times, such as the surface of water, but people have been manufacturing mirrors out of a variety of materials for thousands of years, like stone, metals, and glass. This allows the viewer to see themselves or objects behind them, or even objects that are at an angle from them but out of their field of view, such as around a corner. Mirrors reverse the direction of the image in an equal yet opposite angle from which the light shines upon it. Light that bounces off a mirror will show an image of whatever is in front of it, when focused through the lens of the eye or a camera. Sound waves are much longer than light waves, thus the object produces diffuse reflections in the visual spectrum.Ī mirror or looking glass is an object that reflects an image. The mirror magnified the sound of approaching enemy Zeppelins for a microphone placed at the focal point. 4.5-metre (15 ft) high acoustic mirror near Kilnsea Grange, East Yorkshire, UK, from World War I. ![]() Since we can expect the expansion of ice-free areas and exposed grounds over the course of this century, our results highlight the need to quantify the amount of iron coming from continental Antarctic dust and to access if microalgae can use this form of iron for their basic physiological needs. Our results suggest that iron entrapped during ice formation, likely from seafloor sediments, as well as dust blown by winds from the neighboring Vestfold Hills, are the main sources of iron to Davis coastal sea ice. We collected and analyzed sea ice cores for a series of parameters, including iron, from first-year coastal sea ice sampled near Davis Station (Prydz Bay, East Antarctica) during late austral spring 2015. Less clear though is the contribution of the potential sources of iron to the sea ice. Microalgae benefit from the presence of the Antarctic sea ice since iron is highly concentrated in sea ice relative to the seawater. ![]() In the Southern Ocean, the growth of these microorganisms is limited by the naturally low concentration of iron in the seawater. Oceanic single-celled algae are the base of the ocean food web and play an important role in the Earth climate. As ice-free land areas are likely to expand over the course of the century, this work highlights the need to quantify iron inputs from continental Antarctic dust and its bioavailability for ice algae and phytoplankton. These results suggest that iron entrapped during ice formation, likely from sediments, as well as local input of coastal dust, supports primary productivity in Davis fast ice. Windblown dust represented approximately 75% of the particulate iron found in the ice and is a potential candidate for keeping concentrations of soluble iron stable during our observations. Furthermore, our results indicate a significant contribution of lithogenic iron from the Vestfold Hills (as deduced from the comparison with crustal element ratios) to the particulate iron pool in fast ice after a blizzard event halfway through the time series. Our study shows that dissolved and particulate iron concentrations in sea ice were up to two orders of magnitude higher than in under-ice seawater. Here we describe a 3-week time series of physical and biogeochemical data, including iron, from first-year coastal fast ice sampled near Davis Station (Prydz Bay, East Antarctica) during late austral spring 2015. While studies have reported that Antarctic fast ice bears high concentrations of iron due to the proximity to coastal sources, less clear are the biogeochemical changes this iron pool undergoes during late spring. Antarctic sea ice is an important temporal reservoir of iron which can boost primary production in the marginal ice zone during the seasonal melt. You can have dry food or a meal drenched in gravy.
